It’s funny how our crafts can teach us life’s lessons. I compiled these 7 things I’ve learned while teaching myself to knit. Maybe these can also translate to other crafts and you might identify with one or a few of these:
- Be Patient. Sometimes, I’m stitching something and it seems too hard, but if I stick with it, I can usually find a way to get the job done.
- Don’t throw away the scrap yarn. It’s what’s left over that can be turned into something beautiful. Leftovers have a purpose too.
- Nothing is a mistake. Even when a pattern goes wrong, it can be turned into something else. A tunic I tried to make didn’t turn out but I made an awesome bag instead.
- I will never get bored. There’s so many creations yet to be discovered. I’m only limited by my own imagination.
- There’s no right or wrong in a final piece. That’s what’s so cool about arts and crafts. You can mix and match just about anything and it works.
- Be Quick to Forgive. Knitting is forgiving so when I miss a stitch, I can always “frog it” and begin from where I made the error and keep going.
- Every Ball of Yarn has its own Beauty. Yarns come in different textures, weights, fabrics, and colors. Each has its own unique quality and is beautiful in its own right.
