Hey friends! This post showcases the few items I’ve knitted. I’m not as comfortable with the needles as I am with the crochet hook but it is fun learning. When I first got interested in pursuing knitting, I started with looms. I had all the sizes, from circular to the rectangle sizes. I also purchased the Martha Stewart loom to do weaving. You can click here to see the weaved pillows I’ve made.
Anyway, loom knitting gave me a foot into the craft although it isn’t readily accepted by some. It’s a shame too because it’s perfect for anyone who wants to craft or for those who suffer from hand or shoulder strain. I began with hats learning various stitches from watching YT videos.
From the loom, I began arm knitting with chunky yarns to make scarves, that was a lot of fun but I began wanting to learn to use needles. It took me awhile just to figure out if I would be a Continental or English knitter. Because with crochet, we hold the yarn in our left hand (if you’re a right hander), it makes sense to knit Continental, but I decided on English so I had to learn my tension.
For about I would say 9 months, I only did the knit stitch. I didn’t purl until I was comfortable and then I spent several more months just purling. From there, I went on to knitting with needles. I loved my bamboo needles but I soon translated to circular needles. Of course, I don’t have as many knitting items as crochet but hopefully I can do a little more in the future.
