I don’t do much knitting right now since injuring my shoulder a few years back but I still have a test yarn project I’ve been off and on working on. I began thinking about all the knitting needles I owned from straights (single and double-pointed) that were aluminum to wood, to circular acrylic needles and today’s post is about my favorite ones to knit with.
I’ve used both straight and circulars knitting needles and back then, I used the circulars the most, because I knew when I put my project down I didn’t worry about the yarn falling off the needles as with straights. At the time when I was knitting a lot of scarves, my fair needles were my Susan Bates US size 17 circulars.

At the time of this post, these knitting needles are on sale at Craft Warehouse for $9.99. These needles are made from plastic, very strong and nice to work with. They are US 17 – 12.75 mm size.
I love the long cord and how I could knit easily with them.
I just love the feel of them and the tip isn’t very sharp as some needles can be. I primarily knit with bulky yarn so a size 17 needle set is just perfect. They’re made from plastic and is highly polished for extra smoothness so the yarn slides off without me losing stitches. I’ve done that with other types!
I knitted several scarves with them including a large blanket I made by knitting quilt blocks using Lion Brand Hometown USA Aspen Tweed and Santa Fe Tweed yarns, one of my favorite yarns to play with. I forgotten how large my blanket was, but I remember it could cover a bed easily. I used “Aspen Tweed” for a light off white color and “Santa Fe Tweed” which is a darker brown for my quilt blocks and then after creating all the blocks, I knitted them altogether to complete the blanket.
I think I gave the blanket away in one of our moves and unfortunately I lost my computer files so I don’t have a picture of it 🙁
So, what are my Favorite Knitting Needles Right Now?
Definitely bamboo and definitely circular needles. Both are great especially for beginning knitters.

After my injury, I donated all my yarn, most of my knitting needles and my notions, but I kept one pair which are my straight single pointed bamboo knitting needles. Bamboo is also a favorite with me. I’m not as comfortable with knitting needles as I am with a crochet hook so I never went over to aluminum.
Bamboo is a great texture that I’m not afraid to knit with it. I kinda wish I had kept my bamboo circular needles cause circs are my favorite over straights and maybe I might buy another pair someday.
