Hi my friends, Happy Sunday! Today, I am super excited to share my latest sewing project with you. I made a fabric basket YAY!!!! It is an easy, peasy pattern that I found by Treasurie on YouTube.
You’ll notice that I referenced a few of her tutorials here on the blog. That’s because I like how she gets right to the pattern, no talking, just straight forward instructions and her videos are quite short. This is perfect for me as a beginner sewist. I follow other sewing YTubers and love them, it’s just that Treasurie’s videos are very easy for me to follow.
So, first thing…I’ve embedded her video below if you’d like to watch it or you can watch here on YT. She offers several sizes and I opted for the medium-size.
Since transitioning from using pins to sewing clips and my collection growing, I needed a way store them.

Selecting Fabric
Picking out my fabric was really easy, I used this pretty peachy/white pattern bought from my local Dollar Tree. For my lining, I chose a really soft, smooth solid peach color. It is really stretchy and I wondered if I could sew on it but yes!
I cut my fabric down (2 pieces) to 13″ x 13″ including the interfacing. Now, all I had in my stash was lightweight fusible interfacing so I quadrupled it to get to possibly medium weight for my basket. I highly recommend the heavyweight interfacing that she used in the video. I’ve sinced ordered some for future projects. Anyway for my basket the interfacing held up and my basket does keep its shape.
I cut off 3″ squares on the bottom left and right of my fabric (including the interfacing) to box the basket. Next, I set the lining to the side while I heat pressed the interfacing to the wrong sides of both pieces of outside fabric (2 interfacing sheets over the wrong side of 1 of my outside fabrics and the same to the other)

By following the directions in the video, I sewed 1/2″ seam allowances on the outside fabric and the lining. The fusible interfacing worked really well (also from DT) and stuck to my fabric. My Brother XR3774 sewing machine is the bomb!
And look at my beautiful basket!

I am so stoked that I made this! I folded over the top so the pretty lining can show through and it proudly sits on my sewing table ready for to use the clips on the next project which will be Bookmarks!! I’ll share that in upcoming post!
So how’s my Sewing Journey so far?
Terrific! I am learning more about my machine and look forward to more sewing!
