Today was a day of a lot of crafting and I’m tired but I am elated at all I accomplished. So, this post I’m sharing 2 small size stuffed reversible pillows! I’m using some scrap fabric I bought on AZ and I’m not happy with how thin this fabric is but I’m trying to see how I can use it up. I started out with two 8″ x 8″ size fabrics and I chose a design for the front to be different from the back so the pillows would be reversible.
The tutorial for this I found on Youtube. The creator shared 10 quick sewing projects you can make. The pillow was the 1st project and that’s what I followed to make these cuties. If you’re interested in watching the video, click here.
It’s a simple pattern and provides this cute design. Start out with 2 sheets of fabric for the front and bank and essentially you fold your fabric into a triangle and sew along the edge. Then fold the fabric in the opposite direction and sew the edge. You’re left with an “X” shape. Repeat this with the other sheet of fabric.
Then place them right sides together and top stitch around leaving an opening so you can stuff it later. Turn the pillow right side out and top stitch again and don’t sew over your opening just yet. I also snipped all 4 corners. After top stitching, stuff it with poly-fil or wool roving, whatever you have in your stash.
Next part is closing that opening, so I folded it over about 1/4″ and sewed it shut. You could also hand sew it together if you prefer. The last part is sewing the buttons in the center, I tried to match them and using my embroidery thread, I sewed both buttons in the centers of the pillow.

The top picture is the front and below it is the back of the pillows. Because this fabric is so thin, when I made my 2nd pillow (green/reddish pattern), I doubled the fabric. I did this to get it to like my sewing machine but in the end, I prefer the 1st pillow I made (white florals with the green polka dots) that I didn’t double the fabric.
I found that when I doubled the fabric, it felt more dense and not as fluffy as a pillow usually feels. Nevertheless, I love both pillows. Next, I want to make these larger for home decor so I think my fabric size might need to be 20″ x 20″ or perhaps 16″ x 16″.
